As of 2020, Canada's ease of doing business ranked 23rd worldwide, with a general score of 79.6. One of the highest scores was obtained in relation to the ease of paying taxes. In particular, Canada received the highest score (100) in the total tax and contribution rate. On the other hand, the post-filing index was the lowest among the different fields, with 73.2 points.

The ease of doing business (EODB) score captures the gap between an economy’s performance and is a measure of best practice across the entire sample of 41 indicators for 10 topics. The ranking complements the ease of doing business score by providing information about an economy’s performance in business regulation relative to the performance of other economies as measured by Doing Business. The ranking is out of 190 countries.
The ease of doing business rankings are benchmarked from 1 May 2018 on, and based on the average of each economy’s ease of doing business scores for the 10 topics included in the aggregate ranking.
