Overall, the number of visitors at the renowned museum totaled over 7.7 million in 2022, denoting a decline of around 20 percent compared to pre-pandemic levels. Meanwhile, the Vatican Museums and British Museum followed on the ranking in 2022, welcoming roughly 5.1 million and 4.1 million visitors, respectively.
