The number of female-founded or -led companies that completed initial public offerings (IPOs) in the United States remained relatively low from 2013 to 2020. Four companies that were founded by women completed an IPO in 2020, two more than the previous year. A low point was observed in 2017, when only one female-led company completed an IPO. In 2013, only two companies completed IPOs, a number that remained unchanged for the next two years.
The highest number of IPOs completed by women-led companies during this time period was reported in 2020. This aligns with the total number of IPOs in the U.S. in 2020, which was significantly higher than preceding years.
