In 2020, the Netherlands counted around 2,000 alternative fuel heavy-duty commercial vehicles (HCVs) in its fleet, a rise of some 46 percent, compared to 2019. Liquefied natural gas was the most popular fuel type, accounting for 37 percent of the alternative fuel HCV fleet, after seeing a steep year-on-year increase of 189 units. It was followed by compressed natural gas, which accounted for about 32 percent of this fleet.
