In 2021, 48 percent of the chicken that was imported to Singapore came from Brazil. Chicken ranked first in terms of meat type consumed per capita in Singapore. Being a highly urbanized country, Singapore has to resort to urban farming and the use of modern biotechnologies to reach their goal of producing 30 percent of its own food supply by 2030 in order to improve its food security.
