Nearly one half of Russians believed that Russia's foreign policy toward the European Union should be directed at establishing equal, partner relations, according to a survey from 2020. The share of respondents who preferred Russia to attempt at becoming an EU member reached nine percent. To compare, 35 percent held that view in 2003.
