In 2018, the average tariffs imposed by the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to other countries within the region was about one percent, which was a significant decrease from about 20.4 percent in 2000. Restrictive trade rules in the MENA region were slowing investment efforts and complicating logistical factors.
