In the first fiscal quarter of 2024, approximately 80 percent of Sony Corporation's PlayStation gaming sales were generated via digital downloads. Digital downloads of full PlayStation games spiked in early 2020 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, which led to users spending more time at home and foregoing traditional retail channels while also playing more games in order to stay entertained.
