Whereas credit cards were used to make more domestic online transactions than debit cards in the Dominican Republic in 2020, the opposite was true for cross-border online transactions conducted in the country. With 17.65 million transactions, the majority of online card transactions that year were cross-border and made using debit cards. Nonetheless, cross-border online transactions made with credit cards in the Dominican Republic generated a higher value than those made with debit cards.
