As of September 2020, 63 percent of the Indonesian respondents who were Muslims stated that they were willing to take the COVID-19 vaccination if it were available. Indonesia, which has the world's largest Muslim population, started its vaccine rollout on Jan 13, 2021. Before it was distributed, the Indonesian Ulema Council, the country's top Islamic body, made sure that the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines are halal or permissible under Islamic law.
