This statistic shows the number of reported cases of rabies worldwide from 2011 to 2019. In 2017, there were around 1,798 reported cases of rabies. Rabies is a vaccine-preventable disease that is around 100 percent fatal once symptoms begin. Domestic dogs are responsible for around 99 percent of all rabies transmission to humans.
