In 2020, a Europe-wide survey found that 36 percent of respondents in the United Kingdom were unaware about the role that genetics plays in a person's predisposition to hereditary diseases. On the other hand, less that ten percent of respondents in Finland did not have this prior knowledge of the role of genetics.
