The sales value of packaged video games for the PlayStation Vita sold in Japan amounted to more than six billion Japanese yen in 2018. A comparison of the sales volume by distribution type showed that the number of packaged games sold for the platform during that year was significantly higher than the number of download games. The PlayStation Vita was released to the Japanese market in December 2011.
