Smartphone sales revenue in Russia 2019-2023
Annual smartphone sales in Russia reached 711 billion Russian rubles in 2023, up approximately 34 percent from the previous year. The 2022 revenue was the lowest over the observed period. The number of smartphones that Russians purchased also increased from the previous year, measuring at 30 million in 2023.
5G compatible smartphone sales in Russia
Even though the 5G technology was not yet widely available in Russia, smartphones that supported it were already sold on the market. In the first nine months of 2021, 5G capable smartphones earned a revenue of 150 billion Russian rubles in the country. The sales of such devices increased sharply after the release of several models of Apple iPhone 12 and Apple iPhone 13.

The global smartphone market revenue was estimated at over 467 billion U.S. dollars in 2024. It was expected to continue increasing in the following years until 2029. In that year, the market size was forecast to exceed 526 billion U.S. dollars.
