Prices of consumer goods and services in Poland 2015-2021

In 2021, consumer prices increased in Poland by 5.1 percent, with margarine and other vegetable fats showing the highest increases. Customers paid less than a year earlier for fruits.

International trade of FMCG products

In 2021, Poland actively participated in exporting and importing FMCG products. During that year, Poland imported meat products worth over 1.7 billion euros. In addition, of great importance in importing FMCG goods by Poland were imported vegetables and fruits worth almost four billion euros, and essential oils and perfume goods worth 4.3 billion euros. When it comes to FMCG products export from Poland, the leader in 2021 was the meat industry, where the value of exported meat and meat preparations amounted to more than 6.8 billion euros. That year, the export of cosmetics also was at a high level, where export value amounted to more than 5.7 billion euros.

COVID-19 impact on FMCG market

The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Poland resulted in spectacular increases in sales of individual FMCG products, mainly in March 2020. Regarding sales dynamics, the clear leaders turned out to be soap and spirits, whose sales value increased by 603 percent and 567 percent, respectively. Due to the isolation caused by the pandemic, Poles have also increased their consumption of fruits and vegetables, resulting in sales growth. Thirty-five percent of Poles declared that they increased their vegetable consumption, and one in three Poles increased fruit consumption.
