As of 2019, the transport sector in Africa consumed nearly 135 million metric tons of oil, keeping an upward tendency registered in the previous years. For instance, in 2014, the level of consumption was at 94.6 million metric tons. Overall, the final consumption of oil in the continent was at nearly 190 million metric tons in 2019.
