In France, between 2012 and 2019, the number of women in technical management positions in sports federations decreased slightly from 289 to 277.
However, the number of women appointed as national technical directors had increased over the same period from 4 to 14. This position is the highest position in the sports technical hierarchy in France and is directly under the authority of the president of the federation and the Ministry of Sports. They coordinate all the actions of the national technical advisers, who are commissioned for specific developments in sport (feminization of sport, development of disabled sports, etc.).
The regional technical adviser is in charge of development projects, training of future trainers, detection, training. He is also a liaison agent between the different regional sports structures.
