As a result of the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) since 2020, most school-going people in Ghana have been adversely affected. In spite of measures put in place by the government of Ghana to ensure that distance and online learning activities were carried out, the impact on education continued to rise by 2020. In March 2020, the president of Ghana announced that all educational institutions in the country be closed as one of the ways to control the spread of the virus. However, out of the 214 Ghanaian student respondents, 174 either disagreed or strongly disagreed that they were able to study effectively while they stayed at home.
Moreover, although most of the respondents were aware of the online learning platform launched by the Ghana Ministry of Education, 78 of them either agreed or strongly agreed that they had internet access to carry on with learning activities, while the majority (136 students) either disagreed or strongly disagreed that they had the same opportunity. Furthermore, parents' involvement in learning at home was revealed to be very low. Overall, unequal access to distance learning activities has remained an issue in the country in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
