In the fiscal year 2019, food products labeled with health claims related to intestinal regulation made up around 60 percent of sales of foods for specified health uses (FOSHU) in Japan. FOSHU is a label for food products with scientifically recognized health claims, which received the government's approval to be promoted as such.
