During the analyzed period between 2005 and 2016, the ED visit rates resulting in admission in counties that were remote from a hurricane's path increased by around 10.3 percent among those aged 65 years and older in the week the hurricane happened, and around 3.8 percent in the first week following the hurricane. The numbers are compared to pre-hurricane injury-related ED visit rates. This statistic illustrates the percent change in emergency department (ED) visits resulting in admission in U.S. counties being in the same state of a hurricane 2005-2016, by age group.
