In 2023, there were about 67 million beneficiaries of PhilHealth that were categorized as direct contributors. On the other hand, indirect contributors comprising of the indigent, senior citizens, and sponsored programs members had around 42 million beneficiaries. Beneficiaries include the members and their qualified dependents.
Upon the enactment of the Universal Health Care Act (UHC) on February 20, 2019, Filipinos were automatically included in the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP).
