In 2020, state-owned enterprises saw a slight increase in their return on assets (ROA), while both private and FDI-owned businesses experienced a significant decrease in their ROA as compared to the figures from 2019, before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam. Nevertheless, FDI firms still had the highest ROA among all types of ownership as of 2020. The ROA suggests how profitable a company is in relation to its total assets.
