In 2018, the manufacturing industry contributed 16.2 percent to Egypt's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), representing the highest share among the North African countries. Morocco and Tunisia followed, each with over 15 percent of its GDP constituted by the manufacturing sector. In comparison, the value added by this industry to the GDP of Mauritania and Algeria was significantly lower.
