Among traditional office landlords, the share that thinks that office landlords who enter into coworking do so as defensive play is around three quarters. However, only 39 percent of lenders believe that this is the case. Unlike traditional offices, coworking spaces offer members an office that is not attached to a specific business, for instance for independent workers.

Survey respondents consist of 100 senior executives (coworking operators, equity investors who fund coworking operators and/or coworking funds, traditional landlords, lenders and brokers). 75 respondents were based in the United States, with the rest based in the United Kingdom and Europe.
