For 2019, the mobile industry contributed to the public funding of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) through services VAT, sales taxes, and excise duties by approximately ten billion U.S. dollars. The whole mobile ecosystem had a 5.7 percent contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) in that year.
