Half of respondents to an August 2020 survey expected that debt service coverage ratios for seniors housing in the United States would increase in the following 12 months. In contrast, 11.6 percent thought that debt service coverage ratios would decrease. The debt service coverage ratio (DSCR) is the measurement of the available cash flow to pay current debt obligations. A DSCR above 1.0 means that the debt obligations can be paid off.

The majority of respondents held top positions at their firms with 48 percent who said they were either an owner or C-suite executive. Respondents also represented a cross-section of different roles in the seniors housing sector, including investors, lenders, developers, brokers and owner/operators.
