During a worldwide survey conducted between November 2022 and January 2023, 36 percent of the respondents said they had stalked an ex or current partner in one of the mentioned ways. Those who checked their phone to view text messages, phone calls, direct messages (DMs), e-mails, or pictures, were 14 percent. Additionally, ten percent of the respondents tracked their location via a location-sharing app. A further share of 63 percent said they had not taken any actions to stalk their ex or current partner.

The source surveyed 7,021 adults in Australia, France, Germany, India, Japan, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom between November and December 2022 and 5,004 adults in the US were surveyed in January 2023.
