The number of deceased or missing immigrants en route to Spain has experienced a dramatic increase since 2014, standing for years well below the 300 cases. The year 2023 was particularly dramatic in this regard, with a total of 2,789 missing or deceased, that is, almost more 900 people dead or missing than when compared to the previous year.
