As the use of educational technologies becomes increasingly important worldwide, open conversation on the topic becomes essential. Nevertheless, according to a survey carried out in nine Latin American countries in 2020, 45 percent of surveyed professors stated that promotion of spaces for discussion on the use of technologies in their universities did not exist. In addition, only one quarter of professors surveyed felt prepared for the inclusion of digital technologies in the classroom.

According to the source, "the promotion of collegiate spaces refers to the percentage of teachers who report that spaces for discussion and planning of the use of technologies for learning are provided in their HEIs."
The study was carried out among professors of the following countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay.
