In 2019, slightly less than 60 percent of French parents with a boy said that he already owned so-called "girl" toys, compared to more than 40 percent who did not yet have or did not wish to buy "girl" toys for their son. While most parents (71.78 percent) reported that they did not spontaneously think about it, although they were not opposed to it, approximatively 18 percent of them explained it by the fact that boys' tastes did not lend themselves to it. In 2019, almost ten percent of parents in France did not want their son to play with toys intended to be for girls.
