Based on a survey conducted in July-August 2020, this statistic illustrates the reduced use of other medications through increased medical cannabis use among adult Canadian patients, by medical document status. Around 40 percent of respondents reported a decrease in anti-inflammatory use, regardless of whether they had a medical document or not. In Canada, a medical document from a healthcare professional is required to purchase medical cannabis from a licensed producer.
