In 2019, most students enrolled in agricultural programs at the tertiary level (4,848) in Ghana were in public universities. The number is highly above those registered in other tertiary institutions. For instance, specialized and professional institutes had 788 students in agriculture that same year. On the whole, agriculture is one of the least pursued tertiary programs in Ghana.

Agriculture refers to the traditional program or any program with a larger component of it, and its various options in crop science, soil science, animal science and even narrower programs/specializations in these areas at doctorate and master’s degree levels.
