Producing red meat requires far more land compared to other meat products. It takes 326 square meters to produce just one kilogram of beef (beef herd), compared to 12 square meters to produce a kilogram of poultry meat. It is not just land that is heavily impacted by beef. Greenhouse gas emissions from beef production are far higher than other food products, with one kilogram producing the equivalent 60 kilograms of carbon dioxide .
