As of January 1, 2023, the total confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Libya amounted to 507,142. The number of infections increased significantly in early 2022 due to the fourth wave of infection, and a peak of 5,694 new daily cases was recorded on January 30, 2022. Libya is among the African countries with the highest number of confirmed infections since the beginning of the pandemic.
