The cheapest tariff for a domestic dual fuel and direct debit customer in Great Britain was only 50 British pounds sterling less than the average standard variable tariff in May 2023 but its price fell to 1975.22 British pounds sterling by June of that year. In that same month, the average standard variable tariff and the cheapest energy tariff for large legacy suppliers were just below the price cap of 2,500 set by the Energy Price Guarantee (EPG) in 2023.
