The global production of packaging paper and paperboard reached a high of 265 million metric tons in 2022. The production volume of packaging paper and paperboard has increased massively since 1961, when just 24 million metric tons were produced worldwide. China is the leading packaging paper producer worldwide, having seen production volumes increase considerably in recent decades.
