In 2018, there were 984 thousand enterprises in the wholesale and retail trade in Italy which generated less than one million euros of turnover. This size class of turnover accounted for the largest number of companies in the country. Enterprises registering a turnover of 200 million euros or more were 465. In fact, the number of companies declines as the class of turnover increases.
