According to a survey conducted in November 2019 about diversity in the workplace, about 50 percent of surveyed companies did not have plans to implement LGBT support policies because they claim to not have any employees or colleagues identifying as members of the LGBT community.
The acronym LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and has been used since the 1990s. It is an umbrella term for individuals identifying as non-heterosexual or non-cisgender, with the latter meaning that the individual's gender identity does not match their sex assigned at birth.
