More than half of vegans and vegetarians surveyed in Brazil in 2018 said they bought plant-based food items in supermarkets. Around 39 percent turned to a street market (known in Brazil as "feira") or to a shop that just sells fruits and vegetables (known as "sacolão"), while two percent of respondents used specialized online stores for their purchase.
