Financial freedom sub-score of Egypt on the Economic Freedom Index 2000-2020
In 2020, the financial freedom sub-score on the Economic Freedom Index for Egypt was 50. This was the same score since 2018. Between 2000 and 2020, the Egyptian financial freedom index fluctuated between 30 points, from 2000 to 2007, and 50 points, from 2009 to 2011, and since 2018. The sub-score was lower than the African average between 2000 and 2007, as well as in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016, while it was higher between 2009 and 2011, 2014, and since 2017. In comparison to the world average, the sub-score was higher between 2009 and 2011, and since 2018. According to the Index, the financial freedom sub-score in Egypt was considered "mostly unfree" since 2018.
