In 2019, France exported more than 1.3 billion euros of barley. Belgium alone accounted for more than 20 percent of the market share for the French barley industry. Of the top five import markets, only three were European with Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. China was also one of France's main customers with more than 200,000 million euros of imported barley in 2019.
