The number of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners in Russia increased by 38 scanners (+5.34 percent) since the previous year. With 749 scanners, the number of MRI scanners thereby reached its highest value in the observed period. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses magnetic/electromagnetic fields combined with an induced resonance effect of hydrogen atoms. The result is a visualization of internal organs and body structures. MRI does not use x-rays or ionizing radiation which distinguishes it from CT and PET scans.
