The French National Health Insurance Fund (Caisse Nationale d’Assurance Maladie) has been confronted with an increase in the number of fraud and fraudulent activities over the last years. In order to sanction the perpetrators, in accordance with the level of importance of the facts, the French Health Insurance system has implemented a series of legal actions. It appears that in 2018, the most frequent type of penal measure was the financial penalties procedure, which was used in 3,716 cases.
