The safari industry in Africa has been feeling dramatically the impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As of June 2021, nearly 60 percent of safari tour operators related having 75 percent or more of bookings canceled. Around 18 percent of businesses registered 50 percent of cancellations. The safari industry in East and Southern Africa accumulated more than 12 billion U.S. dollars in revenue in 2018. Due to COVID-19, the top wildlife tourist destinations in the continent, namely South Africa, Botswana, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia, saw a strong reduction in tourism flow.
