According to the survey conducted in Japan in September 2019, 40.5 percent of the respondents stated that they consume sushi from supermarkets or convenience stores at least once a month. 34.4 percent of the respondents stated that they consume sushi from supermarkets or convenience stores less than once a year. In Japan, people who eat sushi at least once a month are called "sushimen" or "sushijo".
