According to a survey conducted in 2019, trying the traditional food in a local restaurant was the preferred food and wine tourist activity among Italian travelers. 88 percent of respondents chose this as their favorite food and wine experience. Meanwhile, visiting a local market was also a popular activity, preferred by 82 percent of interviewees.
