Since 2010, conversion losses in the electrical system in the United States presented an overall trend of decline and amounted to 23.13 quadrillion British thermal units in 2022. In the period under consideration, the figures decreased by roughly two quadrillion British thermal units, peaking at 25.38 quadrillion British thermal units in 2010. In 2020, the U.S. recorded the lowest conversion loss, at 22.1 quadrillion British thermal units. The residential sector had the highest electricity consumption among end-use sectors.
