Reduction in hotel price during COVID-19 outbreak in China 2020, by hotel type

According to a survey conducted among more than 600 lodging enterprises in China in February 2020, the average room rates of guesthouses dropped by 50 percent during the coronavirus outbreak, compared to the same period last year. The average room price of the surveyed hotels also decreased by 11 percent.

91 percent hotels, 6 percent guesthouses, and 3 percent apartment hotels;
32 percent five-star hotels or equivalent, 22 percent four-star hotels or equivalent, 19 percent three-star hotels or equivalent, and 27 percent budget hotels;
43 percent non-eco hotels and 57 percent eco hotels;
66 percent non-chain hotels, 12 percent domestic chained-brand hotels, and 22 percent international chained-brand hotels.
