The Notre Dame Fighting Irish is a college football team that represents the University of Notre-Dame-du-Lac located in Notre Dame, Indiana. Brian Kelly is the current coach. The school is one of six college teams that competes as an Independent in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, although it plays five games every season against teams from the ACC. During a July 2020 survey in the United States, seven percent of respondents found the team name and imagery (a leprechaun) very offensive as it is seen to perpetuate negative stereotypes of the Irish people.
