Founded in 1900 by Charles Somers as Cleveland Lake Shores, the Cleveland Indians is a professional baseball team which competes in Major League Baseball and is currently owned by Larry Dolan. During a July 2020 survey in the United States, 17 percent of respondents found the team name and imagery very offensive as it is seen to perpetuate negative stereotypes of Native American people.
